A 27-year-old doctor in Delhi, who was at the forefront of fighting the new coronavirus, died on Saturday night after a month-long battle with the highly infectious disease. Dr. Joginder Chaudhary worked at the Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, dedicated to the treatment of patients with coronavirus. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 27.
He was initially admitted to the government-run Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP Hospital). However, as his condition worsened, he was taken to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where his family received a bill of 3.4 lakh rupees. While Baba Saheb Ambedkar's medical association helped raise around 2.8 lakh for treatment, his father, a 51-year-old farmer, also wrote to the hospital administration for help. The BSA medical association also wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Sir Ganga Ram Hospital accepted the father's request and assumed the cost of the treatment.
Dr. Joginder Chaudhary, who was from the Singrauli of Madhya Pradesh, had joined the victims department of Ambedkar Hospital in November last year.
Last week, a 42-year-old contract doctor, Dr. Javed Ali, had died of coronavirus. I was working with the Delhi Government National Health Mission. He was under treatment for approximately three weeks.
