Sushant Rajput Case: Top Court To Hear Rhea Chakraborty's FIR Transfer Plea

News

The Supreme Court will hear on Wednesday the plea of actress Rhea Chakraborty seeking the transfer of an FIR, from Patna to Mumbai, accusing her of inciting fellow actor Sushant Singh Rajput's alleged suicide in June.

The FIR, filed by the Bihar police in a complaint from Rajput's father, alleges that Chakraborty illegally transferred Rs 15 million from Rajput's Mumbai bank account and mentally harassed him.

Ms. Chakraborty, who was allegedly Mr. Rajput's girlfriend at the time of her death, has questioned the jurisdiction of the Bihar police in the matter, given that the alleged crime took place in Maharashtra.

In her statement, Ms. Chakraborty said that it was becoming "increasingly evident that the FIR was successfully filed in Patna only due to the intervention of the Chief Minister of Bihar and other local politicians."

The statement also said the actress has a "strong prima facie case going for her, as it appears that the cause of the action has not even happened remotely within Patna."

The governments of Bihar and Maharashtra have become parties to the declaration, as has Krishna Kishore Singh, the father of Rajput. State governments have already issued a warning to be heard by the higher court before any order is approved.
