Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday expressed his condolences for the death of former party leader Amar Singh and said he had been deprived of his affection.
The two had differences, and Akhilesh Yadav's rise at the party was seen as a reason for Singh's bitter separation from the Samajwadi party after his reinstatement in 2016.
"Being deprived of Amar Singhji's loving care, my sincere condolences and tributes," Akhilesh Yadav said in a tweet. He also posted a photo of him, Amar Singh, and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Amar Singh was expelled as a result of the crisis in the Samajwadi Party before the last assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
In a veiled reference to Amar Singh, Akhilesh blamed a "stranger" for the crisis in the party that was made public after stripping his uncle Shivpal Yadav of key ministerial portfolios.
