Residents of a village in the Balasore district of Odisha, 196 km from the capital Bhubaneswar, witnessed a unique sight on Sunday. They saw a turtle, yellow in color.
A senior wildlife officer said it is a rare spot.
"The entire shell and body of the rescued turtle is yellow. This is a rare turtle, I have never seen one like this," said Bhanoomitra Acharya, Wildlife Warden, according to the ANI news agency.
The yellow turtle was rescued by locals from the Sujanpur village in the Balasore district on Sunday. Officials from the forestry department were called to the scene and handed over the turtle.
"Most likely, he was an albino. A few years ago, the people of Sindh recorded one of those aberrations," Susanta Nanda, an IFS (Indian Forest Services) officer, wrote on Twitter, sharing a video of the turtle swimming in the water inside what appears to be a ship.
