- India records highest one-day rise in COVID-19 cases

According to the ministry, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country is from Maharashtra at 7,628. Other states where the cases have crossed one thousand are Gujarat (3,071), Delhi (2,625), Rajasthan (2,083), Madhya Pradesh (2,096), Uttar Pradesh (1,843), Tamil Nadu(1,821) and Andhra Pradesh(1,097)

A 36-year-old man who was admitted to Chrompet Government Hospital in Chennai died due to COVID-19 infection at 10.15 pm on April 24, taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Tamil Nadu to 23. This is the youngest COVID-19 death in the state so far.

More than 2.89 million people across the globe have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new respiratory virus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. The actual numbers are believed to be much higher due to testing shortages, many unreported cases and suspicions that some governments are hiding the scope of their nations' outbreaks.
- Four suspected patients of Covid-19 escape in Pune
Four suspected patients of COVID-19 allegedly escaped while being taken to an institutional quarantine facility in Pune city, poice said on Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday, police said. "While the ambulance stopped at the facility's entrance gate for admission procedure, the four persons fled away," police said.
- Singapore reports 886 Covid-19 cases from foreign workers' dormitories
from TOI 26 April 2020 11:05 PMCoronavirus cases in Singapore crossed the 13,000-mark on Sunday after 931 positive cases, including 886 foreign workers living in packed dormitories, were confirmed. Another 25 were work permit holders living outside the dormitories, said the Health Ministry on Sunday. There were also two imported cases reported today. Only 13 cases were from the local community, Singapore citizens and permanent residents (foreigners), with another five on work passes (foreigners), said the Ministry.
