Mumbai has been witnessing incessant rain since August 3. The meteorological department has issued a red alert that the rain will intensify further in the metropolis and its suburbs over the next two days. Forecasting agencies have also said there will be a second period of heavy rain this monsoon after a fifteen-day gap.
Private forecaster Skymet Weather has advised Mumbaikars to avoid leaving on August 4-5. "The intensity of the rain will begin to decrease from August 6," he said.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised fishermen not to enter the Bay of Bengal until August 6, as surface winds with speeds of up to 50 km / h will cause sea conditions to be very difficult.
