India has received strong bipartisan support from members of the United States Congress against the recent Chinese military aggression in Ladakh.
Indian and Chinese troops have been locked in a bitter clash in various areas along the Current Control Line (LAC) in eastern Ladakh since May 5. The situation deteriorated after clashes on June 15 in the Galwan Valley in which 20 members of the Indian army were killed and an unconfirmed number of Chinese soldiers died.
In recent weeks, dozens of lawmakers across the aisle, both on the floor of the House of Representatives and in the Senate and outside the Capitol, have praised India for standing firm against Chinese efforts to seize Indian territories.
"I call on China to end its military aggression. This conflict should only be resolved by peaceful means," said Congressman Frank Pallone, one of the most senior Democratic lawmakers, on the floor of the United States House of Representatives, joining Other legislators condemning the recent Chinese aggression across LAC in the Indian region of Ladakh.
A great advocate of the relationship between India and the United States, Pallone, founder and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and the American Indian, has been a member of the United States Congress since 1988.
At a time when there is a bitter political divide in Washington DC, influential lawmakers from both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party have been supporting India's stance against China.
"In the months leading up to this confrontation, the People's Republic of China (PRC) army reportedly racked up 5,000 soldiers along this boundary and that clearly meant redrawing the forcibly resettled borders and aggression, "said Pallone.
Support for India against China has come in the form of tweets, public speeches, floor of the House and Senate, letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India's ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and resolutions congressional.
Several lawmakers also called on Mr. Sandhu to express their outrage against China.
