US To Possibly Supply COVID-19 Vaccine To Other Countries, Says Trump

news

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, during a press conference said that the United States can provide a vaccine for the new coronavirus to other countries when it is ready.

"When we have that vaccine, it will be discharged and cared for," Trump told reporters Tuesday. "It will be a very quick process across the country and perhaps we will supply a large amount of the vaccine to other parts of the world as we do with ventilators and other things that we have suddenly become very good at doing."

The Trump administration aims to have a vaccine available by the end of the year or early 2021.

On Monday, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) said US scientists have begun phase three testing of the possible vaccine developed by modern biotech company Moderna.

The NIH plans to conduct the trial at multiple clinical research sites in the US with the participation of approximately 30,000 adult volunteers who are not infected with the new coronavirus.

The United States has reported more than 4.3 million cases and more than 149,000 virus-related deaths as of Tuesday afternoon, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
