American rapper Kanye West burst into tears on Sunday over the chaotic launch of his unlikely campaign to topple Donald Trump as president in the November election.
Wearing a bulletproof jacket marked "security," West delivered a labyrinthine speech in which he claimed he wanted his wife, Kim Kardashian, to abort and that renowned American abolitionist Harriet Tubman "never freed slaves."
West recounted the event in Charleston, South Carolina that he had wanted his wife to abort when she was pregnant with North, their oldest daughter. Then he revealed that his father had also wanted to abort him.
"My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy," West said, crying.
Later he yelled, "I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter!"
At another time during his speech, he said: "Harriet Tubman never freed slaves, he only made slaves work for other white people."
West's speech, whose clips went viral on social media, caused confusion, anger and concern about the musician's mental health.
