Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel said "everyone is worried" after Kylian Mbappe limped in the first half of the French Cup final on Friday with an ankle injury after a terrible inning of the Saint-Etienne captain, Loic Perrin. Mbappe received prolonged treatment, but was eventually replaced after his right ankle was caught by a clumsy Perrin challenge that resulted in a red card for the central defender in his last game for Saint-Etienne. "Everyone is concerned. Everyone who saw the foul is concerned. Of course I am concerned," said Tuchel after his team's 1-0 victory.
"We have to be patient because we have no news. I think he will be tested tonight."
Pablo Sarabia replaced a tearful Mbappé, but PSG's biggest concern will be the severity of his injury ahead of next month's Champions League quarterfinals against Atalanta in Lisbon.
He exited the Stade de France tunnel again later in the second half on crutches.
"It is the third game against Saint-Etienne and it is a third red card, every time in the first 30 minutes," added Tuchel.
"Not all is good news for us."
PSG will face Lyon in the French League Cup final next Friday before resuming their European campaign in a direct elimination tournament at the Estadio da Luz on August 12.
"I hope Kylian recovers as quickly as possible because he is a vital player for us," said PSG captain Thiago Silva.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said he "regretted" hearing of Mbappe's injury and hoped it was "nothing serious" before next month's European crash.
