The longest season in the Premier League is slated for a dramatic finale on Sunday when Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester compete for Champions League spots, while Aston Villa, Watford and Bournemouth battle to avoid relegation. At a time of year when Premier League clubs are generally launched for lucrative preseason tours, the 2019-20 top flight campaign will finally end after the coronavirus three-month delay. Liverpool were awarded the Premier League trophy, Manchester City in second place are guaranteed a place in the Champions League and Norwich has been relegated, but several key issues remain to be resolved.
In an exciting conclusion, the top four places, Europa League places, relegation places and the Golden Boot have to be established in the last round of matches.
The focus will be firmly on King Power Stadium, where fifth-placed Leicester hosts third-placed Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team will return to the Champions League after a year of absence if they avoid defeat, but a victory by Leicester would take them back to Europe's elite club competition for the first time since 2016-17.
United looked tired last week, but Solskjaer urged his team to finish the job after they placed in the top four for the first time since September.
"We are looking forward to the game, we have given ourselves a good opportunity to be in the Champions League next year," he said.
"We want to go there and dominate. We are not going to change our focus."
United has an alternate plan, as they would also qualify for the Champions League if they win this season's Europa League, which resumes in August.
