"Don't Just Watch Movies...": Union Minister's Jibe At Ashok Gehlot Latest

NEWS

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched a strong attack on Thursday against Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot, whose MLAs huddled in a hotel since last week to avoid possible offers from the rival camp amid a continuing crisis. Politics in the state, they were reported watching Bollywood movies. and playing board games.
"It is my humble request to Mr. Gehlot, not only to watch movies at the hotel, but also to watch religious sermons and reflect on state affairs," he wrote in Hindi.

While Gehlot is struggling with a riot from his former MP, Sachin Pilot, and at least 18 lawmakers, who have been camping in hotels in Haryana, the more than 100 MLA loyal to the Chief Minister have been relaxing in a Jaipur compound.

It was widely reported earlier this week that MLAs participated in activities like yoga, cooking classes, and watching movies together. They reportedly saw Lagaan from actor Amir Khan. Some of the Gehlot team members played "Housie".

Congress accused Shekhawat of conspiring to overthrow the government after an audio tape, in which he was allegedly heard speaking to his MLAs, appeared on social media. The party then suspended its two lawmakers: Bhanwar Lal Sharma and Vishvendra Singh.

The Union Minister denied speaking to MLAs in Congress, saying the voice on the tape was not his own. He said he is ready to face any investigation into the accusation.

In a counterattack, the BJP accused the congressional government of illegally touching phones and asked them to reveal the source of the audio.

Last week, an investigative team visited a resort in Haryana where the MLA rebels were reportedly staying to take the voice samples from Sharma. However, they returned empty-handed when the BJP government in Haryana sent some 50 police officers to prevent them from entering the hotel, located in Manesar; MLAs were not on the premises when the Rajasthan police finally managed to enter.

The team then went to another resort but returned after waiting 20 minutes.
