Burnley kept his bet on the Europa League qualification alive as New Zealand striker Chris Wood inspired a 2-0 victory over Norwich by nine men on Saturday. Wood hit in the first half of the detention time on Carrow Road after relegated Emiliano Buendia and Josip Drmic of Norwich had been sent off.
Ben Godfrey's own late goal extended Burnley's undefeated Premier League career to seven games as they climbed to the ninth. They are one point away from seventh-ranked Tottenham in the race for a place in next season's Europa League.
The odds are still up against Sean Dyche's team with only one game left, while Tottenham, Sheffield United and Wolves have two games to make sure they end up ahead of the Clarets.
"I don't think he played against a team with two ejections. It was a weird game! We will take a clean sheet and win," Dyche said.
"Having 15 clean sheets and wins on the table is very nice, so I am delighted with the players."
By emphasizing his supreme organization under Dyche, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope is in contention for winning the Premier League gold glove award for the most clean sheets.
