Domestic passenger flights will resume across the country starting today, two months after the closure announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bringing great relief to the aviation sector on the brink of collapse.
Citing sources in the aviation industry, the PTI news agency reported that the Delhi-Pune and Mumbai-Patna flights will be among the first to take off.
The West Bengal government said domestic flight operations will not resume in the state as of Monday, as the state will remain busy with relief work after Cyclone Amphan.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has claimed the damage of Rs 1 lakh crore to infrastructure and crops due to the cyclone that swept through the state on Wednesday. "It has only been two days since the catastrophe. We are all working day and night. Please be patient. We are trying to restore everything as soon as possible," he said at a press conference on Saturday.
