The leading US infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, on Thursday implored younger people to continue social distancing and other measures to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus, which has emerged in some parts of the country.
"Take social responsibility to be part of the solution, not part of the problem," he said in a live interview with Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Social media platforms like Facebook, which in April eliminated "pseudoscience" as an option for advertisers, have been criticized for allowing the spread of misinformation about the pandemic, from false cures to powerful conspiracy theories.
