Amid a raging COVID-19 pandemic that shows no sign of abating, the Ram Mandir Trust, established in Supreme Court instructions to facilitate the construction of a temple for Lord Ram in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh, will meet today in the city.
This will be the first formal meeting of the trust in Ayodhya and all members are expected to deliberate on a possible date to begin construction of the temple, which has already been delayed due to the pandemic.
Sources said the trust is looking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Ayodhya in the first week of August to conduct a "bhoomi puja" at the Ram Janmabhoomi site, paving the way for construction to start.
But much will depend on the situation of COVID-19, which at the moment is fluid and the cases are increasing rapidly.
