Trump Says US Topping World Coronavirus Cases Is A "Badge Of Honour" Latest

United States President Donald Trump said it is a "badge of honor" that the United States "leads" the world with 1.5 million confirmed cases of coronavirus, as it means the United States is evaluating more people for detect the disease that has killed more than 300,000 people worldwide.

The United States has 1.5 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 91,000 deaths, both the highest in the world.

"I think it's a good thing in a sense because it means our tests are so much better," he said Tuesday at the White House when he organized his first cabinet meeting since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

"By the way," he told reporters, "you know that when you say that we are leaders in the cases, it is because we have more evidence than anyone else."

"So when we have a lot of cases," he continued, "I don't see it as a bad thing, I see it as, in a sense, a good thing because it means our tests are so much better."

He added: "So I see it as a badge of honor. It really is a badge of honor."

President Trump was answering a question about whether he was considering a travel ban to Latin America, Brazil in particular
